The Owl and the Pussycat

Tewkesbury is famous for its medieval alleyways and paths, these stretch and weave around the town. Project Alley Cat was devised to create feature art works to discover as you explore these alleyways. In conjunction with Fair Shares and Adult Education in Gloucestershire a group decided to join in with their own interpretation. They embarked on a large mosaic of the owl and the pussycat. I led the group to create their own design, learn the skills and create their own large-scale mosaic. For members of the group it was empowering to feel they could have an impact on the town and create something that would be a lasting reminder of the group. Giving the group the opportunity to be part of a larger arts project empowered them to continue working on other projects and develop their own art.
